Truth.
I've been to a few German cities and everybody basically followed the same rules. Nobody jumps the light and nobody jaywalks. Coming from the USA it certainly seems odd.

It's easy to tell the tourists in my town, they actually stop and wait for the walk signals.

This concept is strange to me. Don't...walk?
I shall ponder this while crossing streets at random intervals throughout Boston. Be back later.

Moving to the UK I was surprised to discover that there was no law against crossing the road when its red. Was wondering all the time why pretty much noone waited for green...

As someone currently in Boston but with road-crossing habits from New York (get as close to the car speeding down Comm Ave as possible before it runs over your foot), people still look at me like I'm crazy sometimes.
And last year I was in Charleston, SC where everyone actually waits for the walk sign... Drivers would literally stop in the middle of the road for me and look at me like I was insane if I stepping into the road before they had completely passed.

When I was visiting colleges my dad and I were in Providence...car was a block away and we were at a crosswalk so we just went across. A cop actually yelled at us from his car.
"That may work in Boston but not down here!"
Confused the hell out of me.
